Nadika Wickramaratna

Textile & Fabric Artist

About

Born in Colombo and raised in the coastal city of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, Nadika Wickramaratna has always been drawn to colour, texture, and storytelling through fabric. Her introduction to sewing came during high school, when her mother taught her the basics—a foundation that soon grew into a lifelong passion for patchwork. Her early creations—vibrant, playful, and deeply personal—adorned her family home and laid the groundwork for her artistic journey.

Education & Background

After completing her higher education, Nadika pursued a successful 12-year career as a Senior Accountant. With the birth of her second child, she chose to dedicate herself fully to her family, a decision that eventually guided her back to her first love: textiles.

Art Life

Nadika's textile art has gained recognition across Sri Lanka, with her pieces displayed in renowned hotels and leading business spaces. Best known for her large-scale wall hangings and ceiling installations, she also works closely with architects and interior designers to transform spaces through her fabric artistry.

"Fabric is more than material—it is memory, emotion, and imagination stitched together. Each piece she creates is an exploration of design and a celebration of colour, inviting viewers to experience the warmth, vibrancy, and depth of textile art."
